From the Head of School
Dear Friends,
It's hard to believe that this will be my 12th year at Marin Horizon School. I still remember the feeling I had when I first visited the campus and witnessed the amazing warmth and enthusiasm of the children and their teachers. Students were eager to tell me about the subjects they were studying and the community or environmental projects they were doing. I was impressed by how articulate and confident each and every one of them was.
My years at MHS have only deepened my admiration for the dedication and talent of the faculty, and the academically rich and challenging learning environment they provide our students. I am continuously amazed by what our students accomplish and by the depth of understanding that they take away from their lessons.
I believe that the "proof" of our exceptional education can be seen at the 8th grade graduation ceremony when each student shares his or her words of wisdom about life, education, the future or perhaps the past. These departing speeches are given in front of a packed house of peers, families, faculty, our Board of Directors and other parents who are curious about the "end product". We have taken to putting boxes of Kleenex at both ends of every row as the dry eye is a rarity. Our graduates speak with incredible confidence and poise, slowly, deliberately and with such thoughtful and insightful messages. I'm filled with pride thinking about what magnificent people leave these halls and knowing that they will all succeed in high school, college and their future endeavors. They are genuinely engaged, caring individuals who actively involve themselves in their communities and in the world.
I know that the wisdom and generosity of spirit that you will see in the students at Marin Horizon School inspires hope for the future. I invite you to visit and see for yourselves.
Warmly,
Rosalind Hamar
Head of School
