Teaching at MHS
MHS offers a wonderfully collegial and supportive environment for teaching. All core classes are team-taught and teachers are encouraged to use their creativity and inspiration to engage children in their classes. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and integrated and is designed to help children reach a deep understanding of big ideas and the interconnectedness of everything. The teacher to student ratio is 9:1, including specialists.
The school is Montessori-inspired. Montessori training is required for teachers (and desirable for teaching assistants) at the toddler and pre-school levels. In the elementary and middle school programs we look for teachers with subject area expertise who share our philosophy of teaching and learning.
Salaries are competitive and a strong benefits package includes full medical insurance, dental and vision coverage, TIAA-CREF retirement, as well as tuition remission and childcare for faculty children. Professional development is strongly supported. Applicants from other parts of the country should note that the San Francisco Bay Area is one of the most expensive areas in the nation.

Hiring Calendar
Openings may occur in any given academic year, so interested applicants are always encouraged to submit resumes and letters of interest. In January we begin to post vacancies for the following school year. We hope to complete our hiring by May or June, but sometimes we are not able to complete the process until later in the summer.
