Since its founding in 1977, Marin Horizon has been providing a challenging and robust academic program combined with character-enhancing life skills. Marin Horizon is a place of creative, active learning built around our commitment to developing each student’s confident voice.

Many of the faculty have been in the school for more than 20 years, and leverage their experience to shape the academic program to instill the love of learning.
In addition to being experienced and passionate teachers, the Marin Horizon faculty are learners themselves - they keep abreast of and adapt to the most advanced teaching methodologies with professional development.

Academic Program
Marin Horizon School offers a challenging academic program combined with character- enhancing life skills to give each student a voice. The curriculum is designed to ensure every student develops a strong learning foundation, a wide set of academic knowledge, and critical reasoning and problem-solving skills along with empathy and leadership skills for success.
Work on self-advocacy and academic resilience with critical thinking skills. Take ownership of learning and graduate with a strong sense of self to contribute positively to the world.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
At Marin Horizon, the learning extends beyond the classrooms into our beautiful surroundings and community, where students learn character development skills and become advocates for change. The experiential learning program teaches leadership, teamwork, independence, problem-solving, and care for the environment and our community. The Performing Arts program focuses on developing creative expression, imagination, and self-confidence.
Ruby Bridges Walk
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion aren't just words at Marin Horizon - they are part of the DNA of the community. Lower and Upper school students walk to Marin City to support equal access and civil rights - an experience in using their voice for causes greater than themselves.

Wizard of Oz
Performances like the Monty Python, The Wizard of Oz, A Midsummer Night's Dream - students use their acting and vocal talents, and have a blast doing it. Each year, the school is talking about the breakout star who no one knew possessed such a talent for the stage.

Green Team
Earth Day is an event at Marin Horizon, where the entire community comes together to learn about climate conservation from the students. Students spends months designing their unique sustainable creations, and the ramp walk finale is an unforgettable experience.

Trail Running
The school may not have a track, but you wouldn't know it when you see the upper school students compete in regional events. The Physical and Outdoor Education programs leverage the surrounding natural trails to hone their running skills, on road and on trails.

Community Events
Marin Horizon stands out due to our deeply engaged community. Parents are a frequent presence on campus, immersing themselves in primary classroom readings, appreciating student projects, and joining events that unify us all. This community spirit is reflected in our students, who form friendships spanning different grades, fostering a sense of belonging that's increasingly elusive in modern times.
