  • Affinity Groups

Faculty and staff have the option of joining the people of color affinity group or the white affinity group. Groups meet on a weekly basis during the school year, and each have a dedicated facilitator.

Upper and Middle School students can join an affinity group for students of color.
  • Community Building

Events such as the recent "What's Your Dumpling?" potluck and the annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration bring community members together.
  • Diversity Committee

The Diversity Committee is a standing committee of the Board of Trustees comprised of trustees, faculty and parent members. Its purpose is to promote an educational environment within a diverse community, and nurture our students’ respect, awareness and curiosity about each other and the world.
  • Identity Bookmarks Project

Launched in 2018 by Director of Lower School Danny Scuderi, Identity Bookmarks is a multi-faceted project that allows Marin Horizon community members to explore their identities. Students, faculty, staff, parents, and family members have all participated in writing and performing poetry and recording their individual identity markers, which are then displayed in public areas.
  • Parent Education

The Marin Horizon School community is committed to weaving diversity into the fabric of who we are, what we do and what we value. We expect that every member of our community joins us in this work with honest dialogue, so that together we gain courage, comfort and competency to be our true selves.
  • Professional Development

Every year Marin Horizon sends a number of faculty and staff of color to NAIS's annual People of Color Conference. Throughout the year there are typically several dedicated on-campus professional development speakers and workshops focused around diversity, equity, and inclusion. Past speakers have included Randolph Carter and Elizabeth Denevi.
  • Student Clubs

Students can join the Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) group. This group is for LGBTQ+ students and their allies. This club is different from an affinity group because members do not have to identify as LGBTQ+ to participate.
