Head of School Welcome

Dear families,

Thank you for your interest in Marin Horizon School! Since its founding in 1977, Marin Horizon has been providing a challenging and robust academic program, combined with character-enhancing life skills, to prepare students to thrive in a complex and unpredictable world. Marin Horizon is a place of creative, active learning built around our commitment to developing each student’s confident voice.

I am often asked what sets Marin Horizon apart. While there are many possible answers, I point to the following three areas that embody the school’s excellence:

Strength of the academic program. Students are challenged across the grades to grapple with complex ideas and questions. Experimentation in the classroom is encouraged, and failure is embraced as a stepping stone to success.

We lead with kindness. At Marin Horizon, we believe that the foundation of a great school is rooted in creating a deep sense of belonging for all students and empowering them to find and use their voices. Through intentional interactions between older and younger students, kindness is modeled and students internalize that kindness is cool.

We get outside. A lot. At Marin Horizon, outdoor education is far more than overnight camping trips. We believe that the more students are authentically engaged in natural environments outside the classroom, the better they do inside the classroom.

I encourage you to visit our campus and experience for yourself our warm, welcoming, and dynamic community.

I look forward to meeting you in person!

Bill Perrine
