Grade(s) taught currently at Marin Horizon/HCS: 2nd grade

Where did you grow up? Yountville, California

What school(s) did you attend? San Francisco State University (undergrad), Touro University (graduate)

Why did you want to become a teacher? To support all children in learning. I struggled in school as a child and wanted to help children succeed. I love learning and the engagement with kids!
What continues to inspire and drive you to teach? To create change and help support creating thoughtful, kind humans through their education. There is no match for the delight of watching a child really bloom.

What’s your favorite thing about being a teacher/working at a school? The energy and enthusiasm!

Do you have any hobbies? Cycling (road), gardening and cooking/baking. In my prior life I worked extensively in the culinary/specialty retail arena.

Is there any book that has had a particular impact on you? The Grapes of Wrath

Why Marin Horizon/HCS? The community, support and collaboration of an amazing group of people. I feel very lucky to be here as a new teacher.

What has been your experience at Marin Horizon so far? It has been a ride! I started just before the school year began and have learned a lot in a short amount of time. I am continually blown away by the kindness and support of my colleagues.

Which of our Pillars resonates with you the most and why (We are insatiably curious, We are complex thinkers, We embrace challenge, We are active community members, We have a voice)? Insatiably curious and being complex thinkers go hand in hand for me. As a child I often asked the "why", which almost always leads to more deep and rich conversations.
