New Faculty Spotlight: Moriah Geller

Name: Moriah Geller

Preferred Pronouns: she/her/hers

Title: Kindergarten Teacher

Where did you grow up? San Rafael

Where do you live now? San Rafael

Why did you want to become a teacher? I have always loved working with kids, and especially love to be able to watch the growth that occurs when they learn about the world around them.

What’s your favorite thing about being a teacher/working at a school? Kids help me think about the world in new ways! I learn more from them than I could from any textbook!

Do you have any hobbies? My two favorite things to do are spend time in the beautiful Bay Area outdoors and read a good book!

Is there any book that has had a particular impact on you? I recently finished reading Proust and the Squid, which was all about reading acquisition and the brain. It reinforced that the work we do in kindergarten - about letters, sounds, words, and language - is incredibly powerful!

Why Marin Horizon/HCS? I'm so thrilled to be part of a school community that values the well-being of the whole child and the surrounding community.

Is there anything else you want people to know about you? I've never felt as welcomed in a workplace as I do at MHS. It seems like an amazing place not only for students, but also for teachers!
