“Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The annual Marin Horizon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Family Potluck is a long-standing tradition and one of our most popular events. We have not been able to gather in person for this event since 2019, and it is time to bring it back!
In honor of Dr. King, we are thrilled to continue this tradition with a day of service-learning for students, followed by a “What’s Your Dumpling” family potluck dinner on campus.
As brilliantly stated by Dr. Martin Luther King, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” Service to our community and to the environment is fundamental to the mission of Marin Horizon School. Service is critical to our connection to each other, and is an integral part of our sense of belonging - on this planet, in this community, and in our school.
Our children will explore and enhance this sense of belonging as they engage in a day of service-learning, participating in various environmental stewardship activities during the school day on Friday, March 25th.
In the evening, our entire school community is invited to join together on campus for a culinary exploration of our multicultural community, which we like to call “What’s Your Dumpling?” Every culture has a dumpling: mochi, pierogies, bao buns, empanada, egg rolls, gyoza, lumpia, samosas, ravioli, tortellini, wontons, kreplach, tamales, manti, knish, kolaches, fruit pies, and more! Identify your dumpling and bring some to share!
Together we will enjoy a night that reinforces our sense of belonging and celebrates the various identities in our community through interaction and activities.
