Community and a Love of Outdoors Shape the Prakash Family Experience
How did the Prakash family come to choose Marin Horizon?
“We were drawn to Marin Horizon by the strong community we saw, the teachers and the programming. We also love the setting, it’s hard to beat the backdrop of the campus!” says Annie Prakash.

In fact community and the love of outdoors are central themes for the Prakash family. They moved to Mill Valley in 2020, when their oldest son, Zane—now a kindergartener at Marin Horizon—was born. Their middle child, Maya, is in Primary, and their youngest, Kiran, will join the Toddler program this fall.
“Community” at Marin Horizon shows up in many ways for the Prakash family—from strong partnerships with teachers and a welcoming campus environment to volunteer opportunities and personal connections.
“We love how the school treats every child as an individual and meets them where they are. It has been wonderful to watch teachers work with our children to help them make the most of classroom opportunities. The teachers and administration are so quick to partner with you, it truly feels like one team that is all working to create the best for your child,” says Annie.
She continues, “Zane and Maya have loved MHS. Zane is now in Kindergarten and it’s been great to see him feel like such a member of the student community. Zane particularly loves any time spent with Stevie and loves learning new things in enrichment classes. Ceramics has been a big hit and Maya is excited to start soon.”

In addition, the Prakash family have enjoyed the opportunity to visit their kids’ classes and share the tradition of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights. “Our kids, especially, are excited to talk about it, and we love the opportunity to be in the class. Aswin created a quick PowerPoint, we light diyas, have a sweet, and usually do a craft creating rangolis (a traditional Indian art form, where decorative patterns are created on the ground or floor). It's a lot of fun and a tradition we love!” shares Annie.
As a family, they love to be outside. On any given weekend, you might find them swimming, hiking, and biking at playgrounds on the weekend. “With three high energy kids, it’s a form of survival!” jokes Aswin. They also love to travel, often planning trips around sporting events, as well as visits to cities and beaches.
We’re delighted to have the Prakash family as part of our community, where their love of connection, culture, and the outdoors in many ways reflects the spirit of Marin Horizon.
