TODDLER: 2 years old
Our Toddler program offers 2 year-old children a first experience away from home in a warm and joyful classroom that includes beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. Children who are 2 years old by September 1st are eligible.
 
How to Apply:
  1. Submit an Inquiry
  2. Visit Campus: After you submit an inquiry, you’ll be prompted to schedule a tour of our toddler cottage. Tours run from October through January.
  3. Attend Open House: We welcome you to attend our January 12, 2019 Open House from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Please RSVP through your online account by navigating to the calendar or by contacting the Admissions Office at admissions@marinhorizon.org.
  4. Submit your Application: Our application deadline is Thursday, January 17, 2019. You will be asked to submit $100 payment to complete our online application.
  5. Parent Interview: Once you have toured the school and submitted an application, we will contact you to set up a parent interview. Scheduled interviews run December - February. 
  6. Student Visit: Toddlers will visit the Toddler Cottage for free play and observation/assessment. We group visits by age and will contact you to schedule either Tuesday, January 29, 2019 or Wednesday, January 30, 2019. We require one parent to be present during this visit.
  7. Decision: Decisions will be posted online on Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
 
PRE-K and Kindergarten: 3-6 years old
Our pre-k and kindergarten cycle is a Montessori Inspired three-year program for 3 to 6 year olds (preschool, prekindergarten, kindergarten). The multi-age classroom promotes group learning, leadership, and confidence. Kindergarten students spend the morning learning with their age peers and attend specialized classes during the afternoon to enrich their learning experience.

  7. Student Visit: Applicants are invited to attend a morning free play and assessment/observation visit on Saturday, February 2, 2019 or March 2, 2019
  8. Tuition Assistance: If you are applying for tuition assistance, please complete the Parent Financial Statement through SSS by Thursday, January 17, 2019. More information can be found on our Tuition & Financing page.
  9. Decision: Pre-k decisions will be posted online on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Kindergarten decisions will be posted online on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
 
LOWER ELEMENTARY: Grades 1-3
Mastery of academic skills is the driving challenge in grades 1-3 as your child becomes a competent reader, writer, and mathematician. The lower elementary grades consist of a dedicated 1st grade class and combined 2nd/3rd grade classes, with a variety of grade-specific and mixed-age groupings.

UPPER ELEMENTARY: Grades 4-5
By 4th or 5th grade, your child will move from concrete thinking into the abstract. Students build on the early research skills they have acquired, and apply them to long-term projects in science, language arts, and multi-cultural studies through a discovery-based curriculum.

MIDDLE SCHOOL: Grades 6-8
Middle School at Marin Horizon provides a bridge between the academic foundation your child received in the elementary years and the complex challenges he or she will encounter in high school and college. The hallmark of the middle school years is developing the ability to engage in abstract thinking and to synthesize and analyze complex issues.

  5. Submit your Student Questionnaire: This is the application portion for middle school students and should be completed in the child's own words. It is available through your online checklist or we can email the form to you so your child can handwrite the answers. 
  6. Forms: Submit the Common Confidential Student Evaluation and Records Release Form to your child's current school.
  7. Student testing: Sixth grade applicants are required to take the ISEE test and submit results to our admissions office. To register, please see the ERB website. Our School code is: 54184. For 7th and 8th grade applicants, please request your child's current school submit standardized testing with their transcripts. 
  8. Parent interview: Once you have toured the school and submitted an application, we will contact you to set up a parent interview. Scheduled interviews run December - February. 
  9. Student Visit: Middle School applicants are invited to attend school for a day for assessment and the opportunity to meet their prospective teachers and peers on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 or Wednesday, February 13, 2019. We will contact you to confirm a visit date for your child.
  10. Tuition Assistance: If you are applying for tuition assistance, please complete the Parent Financial Statement through SSS by Thursday, January 17, 2019. More information can be found on our Tuition & Financing page.
  11. Decision: Decisions will be posted online on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
