  • Alumni in the News: Katie Sugarman '01

Making headlines this week is a photography and multimedia exhibition by Marin Horizon's own Katie Sugarman '01, being shown at the African American Museum and Library in Oakland. Titled "Giving Me Life: A Visual Journey of African American Organ and Tissue Transplant Recipients," it features portraits of African American organ transplant recipients and was recently featured in a segment on KTVU news

Says Katie of her time at Marin Horizon, "The small class sizes and amazing, engaging teaching and curriculum really helped me figure out how to learn in a way that actually worked for me." Since graduation, Katie went on to receive a B.A. in Photography from Lewis and Clark College. She is also a member of the Board of Directors at Naretoi, an organization which focuses on projects to empower Maasai girls and women. For more information please visit naretoikenya.org.

    Congratulations Katie!

  • Marin Horizon School Presents: The Wiz

Marin Horizon School In Partnership with The Throckmorton Theatre Presents: The Wiz

    The Throckmorton Theatre
    January 27-28th

Featuring a cast of 38 students in 6th-8th grade the musical The Wiz follows Dorothy, our heroine, on a journey through a realm filled with characters that showcase the best and worst of modern society. While audiences will love the funky sing-along trip down the yellow brick road, this theatrical performance is also a part of Marin Horizon’s year-long Middle School interdisciplinary study of “the hero’s journey.” Along with learning the music, dialogue, blocking, and choreography students also examined the important themes and history of The Wiz, a historically black modern adaptation of The Wizard of Oz.

The Wiz will have three performances at the Throckmorton Theatre:

    January 27th  6:30 p.m. SOLD OUT!
January 28th  1:00 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door (CASH ONLY)
January 28th  6:30 p.m. Very limited tickets at the door (CASH ONLY)
