
Afterschool Enrichment Classes
Welcome to our Fall 2025 Afterschool Enrichment Program. (Updated August 2025)
Registration:
We use Homeroom.com for enrichment classes, including music lessons and planned care. If you have any questions about Homeroom, please contact Kiersten Moul (kiersten@marinhorizon.org).
Tuition Assistance:
If your family receives Tuition Support, you may request support for ONE enrichment class. You will still sign up for classes through Homeroom.com and then request a code from Kiersten (kiersten@marinhorizon.org). There is no tuition support for music lessons.
The world is a huge place with hundreds of cultural differences; many of which we have yet to explore. Students will learn background pieces of many people and countries by exploring various arts, languages, cuisines, music, and history.
Whether we are practicing how to use chopsticks, playing awesome cultural enrichment games, cheffin' up yummy foods from different nations, or even arts and crafting "ancient" relics, students will experience the magnitude of culture and how it shapes the world we live in today.

"Diagnose, treat, and learn how doctors save lives!" Students will explore the world of medicine, learning about the human body, first aid, and real medical tools. They’ll practice bandaging “patients,” listening to heartbeats, and even “performing surgery” (on fruit!). From understanding germs to exploring genetics, this hands-on course brings medical science to life!

"Chain reactions, crazy contraptions, and endless creativity!" Inspired by Rube Goldberg machines, students will build wild, over-the-top chain reactions that make simple tasks hilariously complicated! They’ll experiment with ramps, levers, pulleys, and dominoes to explore motion and energy while designing their own incredible machines.

Students will explore and recreate popular cuisines from around the world. We'll travel via our tastebuds to a different country every week by cooking yummy dishes as we go. From Italy to Brazil, a culinary adventure awaits your aspiring chef!

The Marin Dojo’s Martial Arts Enrichment Program introduces children ages 3 to 5 to the foundations of martial arts in a fun, structured, and age-appropriate environment. Through fun engaging activities, students build focus, coordination, listening skills, and confidence—all while learning the importance of respect and teamwork.
Each class includes dynamic movement, basic martial arts techniques, and games designed to improve balance, motor skills, and self-control. Our program is led by a passionate and experienced instructor with over 10 years of martial arts training and a 2nd Degree Black Belt.
Known for their patient and energetic teaching style, they specialize in working with young children—making every class safe, fun, and empowering!
This program is a great way to support early childhood development while helping children stay active and build healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Through playful exploration of gears, pulleys, and basic robotics, students will learn how simple machines work in the real world. They’ll build wind-up toys, create spinning art, and explore movement using hands-on kits—introducing them to engineering concepts in an interactive, age-appropriate way!

Madagascar is a fun and lively musical that brings the beloved characters from the popular DreamWorks animated film Madagascar to the stage. With catchy and infectious songs, including "I Like to Move It" and "Best Friends," the musical celebrates the importance of friendship, courage, and embracing the unknown, and the power of teamwork. Get ready to embark on a thrilling and unforgettable musical adventure with Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman, and all their colorful friends!
Please Note: Show is on Friday December 12th, with an additional rehearsal Thursday December 11th. Additional Monday rehearsals may be added as we get closer to show time! Mini-Musical is a two term commitment.

This class will allow students to complete their homework and receive additional support, when needed, while developing organization and time management skills. Our goal is to relieve some of the stress over homework for both students and parents and allow kids to be productive after a long day.

Step into the wonderful world of chess! This joyful series makes the classic game come alive for preschoolers through art, fun, and storytelling 🎨♟️ Kids will hear enchanting tales of knights and queens, weaving imaginative stories that unfold across the board as they learn the basics of chess. Little ones will also explore their creativity through crafts, designing their very own chess pieces and boards to keep their imaginations active even off the chess battlefield.

Our Dance and Tumbling Classes are offered to children 3 years and older. Our dance and tumbling students will be introduced to jazz, ballet, hip-hop and creative movement styles of dance and will learn to strengthen and prepare for cartwheels, rolls, handstands and more! Children will learn some introductory dance terminology and more importantly will learn to embody the love of movement which they will carry throughout their lives :)
Happy Kids brings tumble mats and a balance beam to each class and we create a fun environment for the children to explore their inner dancer/tumbler as they build confidence in their movement.

Our after-school chess program is an engaging and enriching opportunity for students to learn and improve their chess skills. Open to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players, the program offers expert coaching and guidance in a supportive and friendly environment. Through interactive lessons and regular practice matches, participants develop critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities. Our goal is to foster a love for the game while promoting sportsmanship and camaraderie among the students. Classes will be divided into Lower School and Middle School.

This class is designed to help children’s inner artist thrive! Students will be introduced to a variety of crafting techniques including collage, rock and wood painting, needle crafting with yarn and threads, paper quilling, origami, knotting, beading and wire forming. Students fine motor coordination will improve as their neural networks expand! As a bonus, students will be able to create gifts they are proud to give and be reminded that a gift made is worth more than a gift purchased.

In the Dance portion of class, students will explore different styles of dance throughout the world. Activities will build gross motor skills allowing children to work on strength, balance and coordination. Students will build their dance repertoire by adding combination steps, body isolation, and layer of movement, keeping them challenged and engaged!
In the yoga portion of class, children go on a yoga adventure using their imaginations and the art of storytelling to help navigate through yoga poses. Our destinations include hiking in the Mountains, diving in the Great Barrier Reef, going on a Safari in Africa, or sledding in the North Pole. On our journey, we play yoga games, sing yoga songs, and practice breathing techniques. Our goal is to give young children a developmentally appropriate way to explore yoga poses, mindfulness and social emotional learning.

Team Happy Kids sports intro classes are designed to inspire your child to live an active, healthy life! We will instill in your child a love for sports while increasing their awareness of the importance of working as a team :) Happy Kids brings lots of fun props to class such as squishy balls and bean bags to teach the fundamentals of catching, throwing and kicking, parachutes and hula hoops to learn to work as a team, and fun music and games to inspire! We look forward to your child being on Team Happy Kids!

This class is a blast of fun! Our Circus class is a combination of tumbling, beginning stunt work and partner acrobatics, hula hoops tricks, clowning-juggling, magic tricks, pantomime theater, and will even include some slackline play for balance, core strength, and joy!

Introduce your child to the world of soccer. Children will learn the basic fundamentals of soccer in a fun, high energy environment. Instruction will encourage age appropriate activities while teaching socialization, team work, and motor skills.
