San Francisco Families

Many of our families live in San Francisco and choose to send their students to Marin Horizon – for the strength of our academics,  the experienced faculty, and the outdoor education program. We asked the families for their views.

The Program and Faculty

"Marin Horizon is the best school for our children, period. The teaching is absolutely outstanding and unlike anything we saw at peer schools inside or outside of the city—well worth a short commute."

"Thanks to the bus, our kids' drop-offs and pick-ups are quick and easy, way more convenient than any city alternatives. It's become one of the highlights of their day, as they get to unwind with their friends. Plus, we get to enjoy the Tunnel Tops together as a family or during playdates at least a few days a week."

The Short Commute

"Mill Valley is only a 15-minute drive from our home in San Francisco. Our daily views of the bridge and Bay are a treat compared to navigating city streets at drop-off and pick-up times.

Our daughter kept a log of the weather (and Karl the Fog) as we crossed the bridge for her entire kindergarten year. We love our little routine."

The Natural Beauty

"We chose Marin Horizon over a San Francisco school because we wanted our kids to have days filled with hiking, running, and exploring the Marin Headlands, Mt. Tam, and the beautiful beaches nearby. Our children get to experience both city life and the wonders of nature every single day. They get the best of both worlds!"

The Ideal Weather

"The weather is ideal. Short sleeves basically all year!"

The Outdoor Education

"With the open trail spaces around the school, my son loves the trail running during the double PE classes. I love that the school has a specialized outdoor education program that takes advantage of the surroundings, and incorporates nature into the program that promotes environmental stewardship."
