Key Entry Points

Marin Horizon accepts applicants for our Toddler through Middle School programs each year. We have four main entry points for our program: Toddler, Primary, Kindergarten, and 6th Grade.

Toddler

Our youngest students join us in the Toddler Program (must be 2 years old by September 1st). We accept up to 40 students into our Toddler Program each year and have two toddler classrooms. Our Toddler Garden is located on our main campus and our Toddler Cottage is located offsite where we are proud of our low student to teacher ratio. Montessori materials guide students from simple to more complex skills and concepts.

Primary

At Marin Horizon, our preschool Primary Program (must be 3 or 4 years old by September 1st) is combined with an intentionally curated group of mixed aged children within each classroom. We believe multi-age classrooms promote wonderful opportunities for peer learning. Students remain in the same classroom throughout their time in our Primary Program.

Kindergarten

Our main entry point for our Lower Elementary Program (K-4th) is in Kindergarten. The Kindergarten Program features a lead and an associate teacher. We have created an intentionally small student to teacher ratio in order to provide a thoughtful and personalized introduction to a child’s formal education. Our Kindergarten classroom is self-contained with specialist classes that are integrated into their daily schedules. The Kindergarten program runs for the full day throughout the school year. â€‹

6th Grade

Our main entry point for our Middle School Program (5th-8th) is in 6th Grade, with openings for approximately 12 students each year. Our Middle School Program is designed to have small class sizes and emphasizes close teacher-student relationships. We believe an expanded class size as students move from 5th to 6th Grade ensure greater diversity and social opportunities.

All subjects in Middle School Program are departmentalized and students travel from class to class in groups to learn from teachers in specialized subject areas. Each class offer levels of differentiation depending on the range of skills of the students. Our curriculum is designed to help students develop intellectual curiosity as they work towards mastery of concepts. Several touchpoints, for integrating curriculum across multiple disciplines, occurs through our intentional project-based learning.

Science and Social Studies classes are taught in mixed grade groupings, opening up opportunities for academic interactions with a larger number of students. We believe this provides a deeper level of collaborative learning.

Important to Note:
Once your child is accepted into Kindergarten, no further application is required to progress.
Marin Horizon also accepts applications for Grades 1st-8th based on availability in each class. Please contact admissions@marinhorizon.org to inquire about availability.
