Kindergarten Overnight: Our Youngest Campers Take Their First Big Step into Outdoor Education

We returned from our camping adventure with full hearts, sandy shoes, and so many wonderful stories to share! Our recent trip to China Camp was nothing short of magical, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude to each of you for your support, trust, and enthusiasm throughout this journey.

This camping trip was the culmination of a year-long learning journey. Throughout the school year, your children have built lasting friendships, fostered independence, developed a growth mindset, and strengthened their resilience in preparation for this adventure. It was wonderful to witness them apply all they had learned under the canopy of the coastal redwoods and along the shores of the bay.

Some highlights from our adventure:

Preparing with Kiersten, Our Park Ranger: Before we even set foot on the trail, former Park Ranger, Kiersten, helped prepare the class for their outdoor adventure, teaching us about safety, wildlife, and how to respect and care for nature.

Hiking and Exploring the Coastal Redwoods: With journals in hand and eyes wide with wonder, our young explorers ventured among the ancient trees. They observed, sketched, and wrote about their surroundings, using all their senses.

Beach Fun and Camp Adventures at China Camp: The beach was filled with laughter, curiosity, and discovery! The children joyfully embraced every moment, from digging in the sand to searching for hidden treasures. They explored nature up close, spotted animals in their natural habitats, and thoughtfully documented their experiences in their journals. The evening was cozy, featuring storytime led by Bill and music from Sara.

Night Hike with Stevie: With headlamps aglow, the children bravely ventured into the trails. Guided by Stevie, they showed such courage and curiosity—it was a truly magical way to experience nature in a whole new light.

This trip was more than just an outdoor excursion—it was a celebration of growth, friendship, and the joy of learning. We are incredibly proud of each and every camper for their courage, teamwork, and sense of wonder.
